Biography
Ganga Lal Shrestha (1903–1941) was one of the four great martyrs of Nepal. Born in Kathmandu, he was a student activist who fought against the Rana oligarchy. He was arrested for his revolutionary activities and was executed in 1941. His sacrifice, along with that of Dashrath Chand, Sukha Maiya, and Pokhara Lal, inspired the Nepal Praja Party movement that eventually brought democracy to Nepal. He is celebrated as a national hero and his martyrdom day is observed as a national holiday.
