Biography
Googoosh (Faegheh Atashin), born on May 5, 1950, in Tehran, Iran, is one of the most famous and controversial figures in Iranian entertainment history. Before the 1979 revolution, Googoosh was the biggest female star in Iran — a singer, actress, and fashion icon who embodied the modernization of Iranian society. She appeared in over 30 films and released numerous chart-topping songs. After the revolution, singing by women in public was banned in Iran, and Googoosh disappeared from the public eye for over 20 years.
