Biography
Yasser Arafat was the founder and first chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and President of the Palestinian National Authority from 1994 until his death in 2004. Nobel Peace Prize laureate (1994) for the Oslo Accords. Widely regarded as the symbol of Palestinian national identity and the struggle for self-determination. Born in Cairo, Egypt in 1929, Arafat dedicated his life to the Palestinian cause and became one of the most recognizable political figures of the 20th century.
